Blurb for the Book Tour

J.Kahele was quoted in an interview with "elitebookpromotions.com" that new writers should "Write with honesty. Don't write to please others."
I might be paraphrasing a bit, but I believe these words are true. In fact, most authors will give similar advice, and it's very wise. Because if I aimed to please everyone, I would end up pleasing no one in the long run. If you write with passion, and you write what you like, others will like it too. Not everyone mind you, but hey! That's life.

That's why I love writing Fan Fiction. It's taking some else's world and adding your own flavour to it. Making it a new world in itself. It's not the best if you're trying to write a novel, but it's a start.

I mostly use writing Fan Fiction as a way to get the creative juices flowing. I'll write a few pages of Fan Fiction, and realize that the characteristics of one character that I'm writing would work great in a new story. A story I can make up all myself. No one else's ideas. After spending a few hours each night typing out a story about classic characters from books I've read a million times over, I start to piece together new ideas for new stories.

One day I'll be writing "Harry Potter Fan Fiction" and the next day I'll have half of an original story made up. A short story, but everybody's got to start somewhere.

I'm not saying writing Fan Fiction will one day make me into a great author, I'm also not saying it won't. I've been writing Fan Fiction sense I could write. I loved writing myself into my favourite TV show when I was a kid, or coming up with alternate endings to movies I would watch. Creativity is in everything.

"[the most rewarding thing about writing is] Being able to share your words and thoughts and [have] other's appreciate them." - J. Kahele

Personally, I don't care if others appreciate my work. As long as I'm proud of it, I don't care what others think. That's probably why I write Fan Fiction more than anything else.

My apologies to Yvette Nicole Brown

This afternoon on the bus while heading to my bartending class, I read some tweets by Yvette Nicole Brown. I agreed with them. I ecpecially enjoyed the one's where she likened tweeting to following someone down the street and to someone coming to your door. "If you don't like where they're going don't follow them." "If you don't like what they're saying close the door." (I'm paraphrasing ofcaurse, I can't find the actual tweets) Essentially what she was getting at is that if you don't like what I'm saying then don't listen. But she mentioned something that I commented on. She tweeted:

"And the blockers continue to tweet on. shocked & dismayed that they can't say whatever they want w/o consequences. Where CAN you do that?!"

I agree. Haters gotta hate, but I don't think twitter should be filled with posts about how you feel, you should save it for stuff that matters. Things that you need to say, or atleast you feel needs to be said. And I agree, from personal expirience it is easier to tweet something than to say it outloud.
I'm no hater. I love Yvette Nicole Brown in everything I've seen her in, though I can't always see everything she's in because I don't get those channels (I can't wait till the new episodes of Psych come on Netflix!) when I see her in stuff she's always a delight. I'm not flattering, I'm just telling the truth. I wanted to explain myself in more than 140 charecters.

I'm perfectly fine with people expressing their opinions. But some people need to realize that what they say on twitter can be just like saying it in person. If you don't have an anonomous acount, then what you say is what you say.
Everyone I follow on Twitter I give them 3 chances, if they say something stupid, or promote racism or homophobia, or refer to psychological disorders in a bad way, I stop following them.
I'm happy to see people on Twitter promoting themselves, or connecting with like minded people. It's what it was made for right? But don't air your dirty laundry for all to see.  Save that stuff for facebook!
Once again, my sincere apologies to Yvette Nicole Brown if she thought I was referring to her tweets. I only meant people as a whole should remember to watch what they say before they say it, or rather tweet it.

Talk about homelessness...

Charity starts at home

I wish I had the money to help. People are always asking for money to save the children in Africa, India, the Philippines, but I rarely hear people ask for money for people in Canada, or even in my own home town. Sure, I'd be happy to help orphans in Romania, but what about the people freezing the butts off in -50 winter weather. In canada, if you're homeless the winter could be the death of you. To me that's sad. So if I had the money, and maybe one day I'll have the money, I'd do this:
Homeless kits!
In each bag, there is...
-deodorant
-a 50$ gift certificate (one of those visa, reload able things) to use wherever.
-long underwear
-a sweater
-a disposable cell phone
-a pre paid phone card for a month

Why?
Why these items you say? Well I'll tell you a story.
Once upon a time there lived a girl who lived at home with her mom. Her mom got mad because the girl was hanging out with "the wrong kind of people". They had a fight and now the girl has nowhere to go. She couch surfs from place to place, but has no real address or phone number so employers can't get a hold of her.
Because they can't get a hold of her she can't get a job.
With no job she has no money.
With no money she can't help pay for rent, she can't buy food or cloths.
Now her friends, even though they know the situation with her and her mom, think of her as a mooch and refuse to let her stay with them. Now she is sleeping on the street.
She has no home, no job, no food, and worst, winter is coming. All she has in this world is the cloths on her back and whatever money she can get from asking strangers.

You can always depend on the kindness of strangers.
Back when I have money to spare(or so I thought) and I went walking downtown, if someone would ask if I had change to spare, I'd help them out with whatever I had in my pocket(that I knew I could actually spare). One day after walking home from work. No immediate expenses coming up in the near future a man asked if I had any money to spare so he could buy something from the coffee shop across the street. I reached into my pocket and pulled out a 20.
"It's all yours!" I smiled at him and walked on my way. That man said thank you quite a few times and I hope he spent the money wisely.

But Nameless hipster! What if they spend that money on booze! Or drugs! You're just giving your hard earned dollars into there hand to feed there habit! You might not be helping them at all!
I give them the money and respect they deserve as a human being. Whatever they do with the money after that is up to them. It's there life, not mine.

But why the deodorant?
Everyone I've ever known who is or was homeless (and that's actually quite a few people now that I think about it) has carried deodorant, body spray, and anything else that will mask the fact that they have not showered in quite some time.

So there you have it. My small dream, that could be a good idea in the future, when I have the money.

Friday, I'm in love… does anyone know that song.

Hello Blog Readers

Do you Know I've had this blog sense 2012! My how time does fly. I was just discussing with my sister:
Me: Only 2 years left
Sister: What?
Me: Well more like one and a half I guess.
Sister: What…?
Me: Uh, I mean… plenty of time. No need to worry! Don't get your affects in order.
Sister: Well I should think so. If everyone's going to die, what would be the point?
Me: Exactly… everyone…

we have weird conversations though.
earlier today I said

TO THE BASEMENT-TORIUM!

and I got all the way downstairs, to my room, walking at a slow pace and then she responds.

"Wait, "Basement-torium"?"

Roll eyes thusly.

so I've started to write fan fiction to pass the time because, well you know…
no Netflix, no TV, no friends make nameless hipster go CRAZY! - er… crazier….

So I have some written for Harry Potter and some for Once Upon a Time (which is actually a show I hate, but I enjoy some of the dynamics. plus the fact it's shot in BC! Go Canada!)

I'll keep you guys posted on Twitter or what have you if I decide to post the stuff for all to see. Until than, practice the art of "Not Giving a F**k"! Peace!

The day of Peace (September 21st)

http://www.ted.com/talks/jeremy_gilley_one_day_of_peace.html?utm_source=twitter&source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ios-share

Hey there people!

So at 4:30 in the morning I was struck with insomnia and decided to watch TED talks.(this was mostly due to the fact that music could not cure my insomnia and I have up Netflix for lent) the man in this video, Jeremy Gilley, has a great idea. He actually succeded in getting people to agree to a international peace day. He lowered violence in Afganistan by 70%! So I'd like you guys to watch the video, and send it to people you know. He talks about September 21st being the day of peace, and it's a great start!
This should apply to everyone that day. If on that day everyone had to be nice to everyone. Weather you're in a shitty mood or not say "thank you" to the boy that gives you your mocha frappachino. Smile at the woman driving the bus. If everyone did that for a day I'm sure they would notice that there day was better then a day that they acted like a grump.
I could quote you a bunch of random motivational quotes, or spout off an inspiring story I have, but I think you should try the day of peace for yourself. If it changes your world, it just might change the world around you.
That's my short rant for now,

Inappropriate songs I would sing to my children... Part one

I don't know any classic songs you sing to your children. And when they're so young that they can't understand words or context you may as well just sing whatever you want to them. So, much like. Ross and Rachel from "friends" (90's flashback, OH MY GOD) I would sing something not necessarily "Kid friendly"

Crazy train by Ozzy Osborn
Big girl you are beautiful by Mika (which, isn't really inappropriate, but it's not traditional)
2000 light years away but Green Day
Sugar by System of a down
Courtesy call by Sixx: AM
Diamond Eyes by Rishloo
every morning by Sugar Ray (wow, another 90's flashback!)
run Around Sue... Probably redun by a lot of different people
Oh what's that song... Theme song for "charmed" ... Such a depressing song...

These are just to name a few. I'll post links to music videos on my twitter when I get the chance, but you get the point. It doesn't matter what you sing, as long as it comes from the heart.

Book update!
Still reading the mortal instruments, city of bones and I'm hating it more and more. Every once in a while I get caught up in it, but most of the time I'm just thinking "yes! Get on with it!"
Right now they seem to be building some kind of will they/won't they/who's she gonna pick drama... Like she has to choose between her best friend, who's a bit of a prik, who she's know her whole life, but obviously has never thought of him as anything other than a friend or else why wouldn't they have started dateing a long time ago (sorry for the run on sentence), or she could choose the "hot" douch who, on occation can be nice but is more often than not a douch with a capital BAG.
Women of the world know this! There's no shame in being alone! If your stuck between a rock and a hard place (or a douch and a hard ass in this case) take a lesson from fleetwood Mac
You can go your own waaaaaaay!
Go your own waayyyyyy!

Gather around children! It's time for another boring book review!

By boring book review, I mean boring book, review. The book is boring, not the review...

Anyway! I bought and started to read "the mortal insterments: city of bones" it first caught my eye because it's about demon hunting or some such and I love books in that nature, because it's so true to real life. You know, right? Not really. In all seriousness I don't perticularly like fiction novels, but I heard good things about this book, which it turns out is an entire series of books (god I hope I don't have to read them all just to find out that what I thought at the beginning was true turns out to be the surprise ending, (that's happened before with the series of unfortunate events))

For a book about fallen angels battling evil spirits from the underworld this book is sooooo boooooring. I keep waiting for it to get better, but it never does! I'm half way through it and I realize now that nothing has happened yet. Sure little things here and there;
girl finds out secrets about her family,
guy is a "hot douch" type, not sure if I'm supposed to love or hate this character at this point (I'm more or less indifferent at this point).
Girl is jelious of other girl
Guy hits on guy

It's all in the liner notes...

I could stop reading now, but that wouldn't be fair to this book review! So no matter how long it takes, and how boring this book is I will continue to read it! Even if it kills me...

On a happier note! I started watching supernatural! I'm a fan, I'm only on episode 18  or so but I like it. It has all the elements of a good show;

Hot guys
Cool car
Demon hunting
Revenge
Hot guys
And most important
Hot demon hunting guys! (Who drive a cool car)
"For REVENGE!"

That's enough for now lads.
Until next time follow. Me on twitter, Instagram, or Pinterest!
